Berserk Storyline
Berserk is a story about a villainous man named Gutts, a felonious doomed
child of fate, born from a cadaverous bedeviling womb that hung cursedly from a
forlorn eerie tree. He was to die beneath her corpse. He is of this point not in
fates plans, for he is dead, or rather was meant to die, and is not a factor to
the thread of fate. Though, he survived, a couple had rescued the malnourished
parentless boy. Berserk has a unique riveting captivating story-line, an epical
journey starting with the mystique setting of the dark ages, speculative, in
Europe. The beginning cycle shows a cold demeanor, robustly tall man.
His presence vengeful with pure raw unadulterated ambience. His passion is a
vindictive germinating mystery, culminating in his one good eye, manifested fury
that only sees the fatality of death and those who are destined to cross his
path, will be caught in its stifling hold.
To me, he is like the physical visualization of the grim reaper, materialized
persona that is death, it is all that surrounds this Black swordsman named Gutts.
He was raised by a stern man named Gambino, in lived with a mercenary camp,
where he was train to be a mercenary. There is no point or purpose to his life,
nor his mere existence, because his fate was death, he wasn’t part of fate’s
equation, he was to die with his mother, though had survived. Untouched by
destiny and fate . Even as small child his life was spared in the most brutal
carnage of battle, it is still a puzzle just how he managed to survive each
savage encounter with malicious killers.
Though this man that wasn’t meant to exist, inadvertently, wherever he resides
forlorn, ostracism and tragedy fall behind his passage, devastating debacles
including minor provoking trivialities. Was it because his existence threw off
the balance of fate, literally shaking the foundation with each action?
Is fate actually taking steps, trying correct its unintentional mistake in Gutts?
.And, because this, it is why a dark cloud shadows him, a ramification. He is
between worlds, living and non. Throughout the story-line, Gutts has no
ambitions, morality, ethics, or interested in the politics of war, he in fact,
fights, a life in-between the balance of worlds. His real human qualities, are
his emotions, and his indignation, to have anger and hatred, to show that he is
human with passionate fury.
Still, he is a clueless raging monstrous brutality killing for money was it or
seeking his meaning through battles... until, he met a gracefully beautiful man
named Griffith.
Up until now, at this point, he had never been bested in battle, nor challenge,
never thought of anything but surviving, this is his turning point, crossing
into the threads of another’s fate. Finally, he joined the world, questioning
his worth at the same time, effect a huge impact on everyone’s future outcome.
To Live. Griffith seemed like a mysteriously enchanting beacon of the meaning
and purpose to his existence. His guide, his leader, his friend, his inspiration
and motivation. Also, connect with the Hawk Members, Judeau, Caska, Pippin,
Rickert, Gaston and Corkus
Griffith a charismatic cajoling leader of a mercenary band, he seemed destined
for greatness. He alone lead the coalition to royalty and wanted Gutts to join
him and his endeavors. The main focus at this point, is a transition of the
past, a new plateau in Gutts’s discovery of himself.
Gutts encounter a supernatural being that opens his eyes to a world outside of
reality. It was the first of the hellish encounters to come. He fights with the
creature, nearly loses his life and Griffith risks his life to protect him.
It was then he senses that Griffith is no regular being, if at all human, but a
god. Not the he was stronger, no, but that the super natural beast seemed to
back off because of a crimson item worn around Griffith’s neck.
He feels as though he is a divine conduit to aristocracy and nobility... but
also, perhaps something more he isn’t capable of understanding.
Even though, he befriends and fights for him, he can see a bedeviling
manipulative side to Griffith, to look innocent and carefree at times, but have
the eyes of a spiteful nefarious devil, a hawk circling its prey.
There was condescending confident arrogance that surrounding Griffith, he was
the core to the hawks, an essential quest for greatness, Gutts had found
rapturing, befuddled, yet, unable to break free of his concerning curiosities.
Gutts had also done most of Griffith’s darkest secreted deeds.
To be depended on, was something entirely new for him. It gave him purpose and
meaning, though he never realized it. In addition, trust, to depend on one
another as brothers, this trust only grew with each winning battle, this was
something that encourage Gutts. The more infamous they became, the more the envy
grew to smite them with ambiguous indignation.
Gutts also developed a fondness with the band of the hawk. Becoming a commander
of a specific unit called “The Raiders” essentially, they were the raiding
party, attackers of the garrison. Learning growing and caring for others,
members like Gaston, which is not typical of this type of character.
He cared greatly for his unit, all members he would fight extreme odds for,
unlike Griffith. Griffith had only showed that type of trust with Gutts. Anyway,
Though he loves to battle, he is quite reserved, still, he seeks life through
others and their philosophy. Judeau was always a good advice giver, one who’s
opinion was well respected.
Even though Gutts is part of the hawk, in fact a commander, he doesn’t feel as
though he can grasp the concept they fight so hard for, that he doesn’t belong,
just a man who stopped by to warm his hands in the fire. He doesn’t realize what
he has, perhaps because he was never used to being happy as such, doesn’t feel
part of the group, he can be prideful and obstinate at times. His character
develops to wanting something else, yet not knowing what the something is,
perhaps, it was the warrior woman named Caska. Second command General, higher
rank then Gutts
Their relationship changed from bitter resentments to a respectful
understanding, they had a great deal in common after battling three years side
by side, they grew through experience to trust each other. Caska feelings begun
to change sentiments for Gutts. But at this time Gutts is detaching, consumed
with one thought.
Gutts decides to leave the hawks after overhearing Griffith’s diatribe about
what a friend is to him, Gutts didn’t qualify on those levels, this is what
consumed and drained him
During Gutts absence caused, Griffith’s whole character demeanor to alter. The
only way possible for Gutts to leave the Hawks... he had to go through Griffith,
the man who beat him twice in the past.
However, that was three years prior, and Griffith proved to be little or no
obstacle to Gutts’s awesome power. He was unbeatable and confident, something he
had learned from Griffith, confidence.
The roles reverse once he left. It was now Griffith to be the one lost. And he
was completely, however, him being the leader had to be focused, if he lost
sight of his goal for an instant, it would damn his fate and it did.
Griffith had let his guard down in his weakened vulnerable state. He was
captured easily. Tortured and missing for a year, Griffith was not only mentally
defeated, but physically he was nearly dead, if you can call what decaying mess
left of his body alive, like dried beef jerky.
Around this time, Gutts comes back stronger though Griffith is being held in
prison.
Gutts and Caska fully develop their relationship to a level she had hoped once
with Griffith. They were content with each other, finding each other through
tragedy an unbreakable bond strongly formed, not even death would keep them
apart, not even the bleakest abysmal of nights. This is what you would call true
love, two binding souls, are as one physically, spiritually but not only that
but protectively and equal love.
They eventfully rescue Griffith, though he is nothing like the charismatic
leader they once knew. A weak shell of a man, afraid, fearful of being left
behind. It was then Griffith used his long time behelit, a crimson ornament that
he wears religiously, constantly worn around his neck. He was filled with envy
and indignation over Gutts’s power, position and love.
Caska at ne time was his shadow, since she fell for Gutts, Griffith was no
longer the center of her attention, she moved on to someone who would return her
love unselfishly, honestly.... simply.
The plot has various suspicious twists and angles that supercedes any that I
ever seen, incredible really. Since the begin there is a feel that this anime
goes beyond human levels, expectations in this fantastic mystical romanticized
reality, things that are legend and myth, should not exist in any world. It’s
ideal folk tales, yet, slowly it does become reality, just as Gutts’s usual
birth. Then the deadly fiasco with a war god, battling fiend named, Zodd the
immortal, horrified and petrified shows the realness and dealing with this
actual nightmarish fantasy.
It deals with the reality of the situation and the stubborn fickleness of iron
will. Those who have the power to rule, are often ruled over by a charming
philosophical, optimistic, tactical, methodical, idealistic, theological
diatribes, by a charismatic white hawk, whom digressing self worth to all his
men, priding and giving the moral.
He inspired many with a mere glance, speech, with his unyielding determination
to have his own kingdom, This alone was enough to intrigue Gutts. He had earned
his respect. There are many other elements, romantic notion such as bittersweet
love, to have everything, and in an instantaneously to have it all pilfered so
easily by a single betrayal. A word, “I sacrifice
The series ends after this dark climatic situation of Gutts fighting to save
Caska during a battle with Femto/Griffith. Who showed an outward display of
punishment, abject humiliation. Everything turns into a raw horrific nightmare
as Femto rapes Caska in front of Gutts killing him in every way, which explains
the beginning scene of Gutts showing no mercy.
Anger like that does not come naturally, you have to be scorned, victimized and
betrayed in the worst way imaginable by a person who you considered a brother.
To level of insanity can such anger only be achieved, bent on revenge he aims to
kill Femto and his God hand friends.
